Departmental Activities

Department of Physics undertakes various activities every year for the overall development of students. Students offering Physics from different classes participated actively and are benefited.The important of the activities are as follows

Activities during 2012 – 13.

  • A group discussion on Contribution of Women in Scientific Development of the Country was organized on 5th Jan 2013 in the department. Seventeen students expressed their views. Opinion of MsShital V Rathod was noteworthy.A group discussion on Superstitions, I Know was organized for B. Sc. II students on 7th March 2013. Opinion of Mr Prashant Daware was noteworthy.
  • The students of B. Sc. II were excited very much by observing the working models on scientific principles at the Science Centre in college campus on 7th Feb. 2013.
  • Computer Adaptive Test (AM-CAT) was organized on 26, 27 Feb 2013, for the students in collaboration with Aspiring Minds, Gudgaon, New Delhi.
  • Sky watch program was organized in campus of the college on 18 March 2013. The students took keen interest to observe craters on moon, Jupiter and it’s moons, Orion nebulaM-42, pole star, saptarshi double star, Nakshtras etc. through the locally assembled 125 mm telescope. On the occasion many queries of the students related to effects of heavenly bodies on human being were solved.
  • Prof N D Khairedelivered a talk on RashtrasantTukdojiMaharaj - a social scientist, at GurudevSeva Mandal, Pusad on the eve of national science day, 28 Feb 2013; on Role of Women for Value Based National Progress, in the function organized by NisargaSanvad, Pusad on international women day, 8 March 13.

Activities during 2013 – 14

  • Felicitation of the students securing highest marks in the last examination was organized. Ms. UzmaJaveria Mir Ali, B. Sc. III; Mr. Balu D Jadhao, B. Sc. III; Ms. Suchita S Dahale, B. Sc. II; Mr. Rahul D Parate, B. Sc. I were felicitated at the gracious hands of DrAshvinikumarBajpeyee, Head, Dept.ofPhysics,Narasamma Arts, Commerce & Science College, Amravati and also the alumni of college. Physics Association of students with KishorSMeghani as Presidentwas also inaugurated. On the occasion he delivered a motivational talk and also shared his experiences & memories during his student life.
  • Sky watch program was organized in the collegecampus.   • Learners test was conducted for the students of B. Sc. I to find out slow learners and fast learners so as to provide them remedial coaching to bring tothe level necessary for pursuing higher studies efficiently.
  • Mr. Shesharaoji A Rathod, laboratory attendant, Dept. of Physics, retired from his duties on 31st Dec., 2013. He was honored for his outstanding services.
  • Excursion tour of B. Sc. III students was organized at the Swapnabhumi Discovery Science Centre, At: Kerwadi, Tq: Palam, Dt: Parabhani on 1stMar., 2014. Students of B Sc II visited Science Centre in college campus. To inculcate communal harmony and national integration the students were taken to Gurudwara, a holy place in the name of Guru NanakdevajiatNanded.
  • Students were benefited by the invited talks / guest lectures of the intellectual personalities in the region - Mr. SumitBhangade benefited students on Graphology, Prof RuchirGodbole, Head, Dept. of Communication Skills, BabasahebNaik College of Engg, Pusadinteracted with students on Communication Skills and Interview Techniques. Dr S K Omanwar, Professor and Head, Dept. of Physics, SantGadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati addressed the students on Importance of Experimentation. Mr. Prasad A Deshpande, Asst. teacher, Zillaparishadschool, Jawali, Tq: Pusad, benefited the students by his interactive talk on Capacity Building and Attitude. Prof Dhiraj N Rahutiya , Dept. of Science and Humanities, Dr. N. P. Hirani institute of polytechnic, Pusad; communicated with the students on Communication Skills.
  • National Science Day, in the memory of great physicist & Nobel laureate, Sir C V Raman, was celebrated in the college on 28th Feb., 2014. Students participated in the various activities organized on the day. AlankarKamble&ShivarajWakodeparticipated in exhibition and MsMuktaPorajwarparticipated in the seminar competition.
  • Prof Khaire, Hamjade, Watode&DrMotke contributed paper in the UGC sponsored state level seminar on integrated personality development & character building organized bySmtVatsalabaiNaikMahilaMv., Pusad.ProfKhaire, Hamjade, Watode&DrMotke participated in the UGC sponsored national conference on Material Science : Trends & Future – 2014 organized by the BhartiyaMv., Amravati.Prof Dr. Watodealsopresented research paperin the conference. Prof Khaire, Hamjade& Dr. Motke participated UGC sponsored national seminar on Material Science organized by SreematiGopikabaiSitaramjiGawandeMv., Umarkhed.
  • Seminar of students was organized in the department on 08 March 2014. MsNitaPendharkar, B. Sc. III talked serious matter of female foeticide to mark international woman day. MsMuktaPorajwartalked on blind faith eradication for progress of nation.
  • Prof Khaire N D delivered invited talk on Astronomy – A Practical Approach at the inauguration of Astronomy Centre in Arts, Commerce & Science College, At: Arvi, Dt: Wardha. He delivered a talk on Scientific Attitude at Late VivekPimpalikar College, Achalpur; Scientific Approach and Rational Thinkingin a program organized to condemn assassination of Dr. Narendra Dabholkar, president, AndhashraddhaNirmulanSamitee, organized by NisargaSanvad, Pusad. He also delivered religious and spiritual discourses aiming to motivate the farmers, labors for learning the art of living so as to divert their minds fromsuicidal thoughts.

Activities during 2014 – 15

  • The students securing distinction grade marks in the past examinationvizAlankar D Kambale, B. Sc. III; Rahul D Parate, B. Sc. II; Supriya V Mandade and Samruddhi SBhagawat, B. Sc. I were felicitated at the hands of Prof. Vasant K Rathod, Deptof Physics, Govt. Polytechnic, Gadchiroli, also alumni of the college.H’ble chief guest blessed the students by his valuable address. On the occasion Physics Association of students with Puja Gadade as a Presidentwas inaugurated.

On the occasion many queries of students related to effects of heavenly bodies on human life were also solved.
  • Prof Hamjade& Prof Watode addressed the students on India’s Mars Mission on account of its successful launch by ISRO on 24 Sept 14.
  • In the science exhibition organized in the college 73 students from the dept participated by displaying the 29 models, and many participated by displaying the posters. Best among the models were of Anjali Raju Paikrao, Pallavi B Chavhan, Shubhangi B Falke&Anjutai S Chavhan.
  • Students of B Sc II were excited very much by observing the working models on scientific principles at the Raman Science Centre, At: Nagpur on 7th Feb., 2015. Staff members explained working of models. Students also visited the holy places Dikshabhumi, & Dragon palace. Students of B. Sc. III visited BabasahebNaik Soot Girani, Pimpalgaon as a part of their academic activity.
  • Students were inspired and motivated a lot by the invited talks of the intellectual personalities -
    Dr. S. K.Omanwar, Reader & Head, Dept. of Physics, SantGadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati interacted with students on – Fascinating Applications of Nanotechnology. Dr D V Atkare, Principal, Mahatma FuleyMv, Warud, Dt: Amravati, blessed the students by his valuable talk on Personality Development & Character Building.Prof. L D Khaire, Head, Dept of Chemistry, VivekPimpalikar Jr College, Achalpur, benefited the students by his interactive talk on Behavioral Aspects& Importance of Learning. Prof MsShivarkar, Dept of Chemistry, BabasahebNaik College of Engg, Pusad benefited the students by her interactive talk on Carbon Credit & Neutrality.
  • National Science Day, in the memory of great physicist & Nobel laureate, Sir C V Raman, was celebrated in the college on 28th Feb., 2015. On the occasion essay competition was organized on topics - scientific approach, scientific development of India, science educational system & scientific reasons and remedies on farmers suicide. Ranked essays were of PritiChintawar, FarheenKausar, NadiyaFirdous, AayeshaTabassum and SumitRathod. These students were felicitated at the gracious hands of chief guests Prof V S Kharche& Prof M G Dhage. Students and staff members expressed their views on the occasion.
  • Prof Khaire&DrWatode participated the workshop on Experimentation in Physics at Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati. Prof Khaire, Prof DrWatode& Prof Hamjade participated the national conference on Libraries From Palm Leaf To Palm Tips organized by the college.
  • Research paper of Prof DrWatode entitled - dielectric relaxation study of aniline, N-methylaniline& N,N dimethyl aniline and alcohol in 1,4-dioxane using picoseconds time domain reflectometry, get published in the Journal of Physics & Chemistry of Liquids. And another paper entitled – A comparative dielectric relaxation study of Penta Ethylene Glycol and Hexa Ethylene Glycol in water mixture using time domain reflectometry get published in the journal of molecular liquid.Minor research projects of Prof Khaire& Prof Hamjade got sanction from the UGC.
  • Prof Khaire delivered invited talk on Astronomy and CommonMan at Mahatma MungasajiMv, Darwahand GopikabaiSitaramji College, Umarkhed. He delivered religious and spiritual discourses aiming to motivate the farmers, labors for learning the art of living so as to divert their minds from suicidal thoughts and to become wise human beings.

Activities During 2015 – 16

  • Condolence of the missile man and former president of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was observed on 27 July2015. On the occasion Shraddha Deshmukh, PriyaDeshmukh&Anand Sharma of B. Sc II reviewed the services provided by the divine soul to nation. The students took oath in the same way as of the scientist.
  • The students - Shweta Jagtap,SushmaDhote, SubodhkumarKambale, Pratik Rathod,Arti Hatti, KaveriGodase,MayurNapthe placed in distinction in the last examination were felicitated at the gracious hands of Dr. N R Pawar, Head ,Dept of Physics, Art, commerce & science college, Maregaon, also the alumni of college. Rahul Parate, was also felicitated for getting inspired scholarship of Rs 80,000 per annum from department of science & technology, Govt. of India till the completion of education. On the occasion he addressed the students of UG on opportunities for physics students. He had given information regarding many schemes & scholarships that a student can avail. He presented expert lecture for PG students on Nanotechnology - synthesis and fascinating applications of nanocomposits. Physics Association of students with Akshaya Chauhan as a President was also inaugurated at the gracious hands of chief guest.
  • Video shows on Mar’s mission, wave particle duality, earthquake Science etc. were organized for the students of B. Sc. II.
  • In the science exhibition organized by college 18 students from the department participated by displaying the 8 working models and a poster. Best among the models wassignal system to avoid accidentsconstructed by Kunal N Pawar.
  • Students of B. Sc. II were excited very much by their visit to the school of physical sciences of SRTM University, Nanded. The students keenly observed working of 400 mm telescope with rotating dome observatory, research instruments and current research going on in the laboratories of material science, microwave studies of materials, laser physics, astrophysics, museum of earth science etc. Students were motivated towards higher education in Physics. Students also prayed at Gurudwara, a holy place of Shikh devotees in the city.
  • Sky watch program was organized in the college. The students, staff members and parents took keen interest in observing craters on moon, Jupiter and its moons, belts on it, through the locally assembled 125 mm telescope. Also information regarding stars, planets, pole star, constellations’, earth’s rotation, black holes, gravity waves, Orion nebula M-42, double stars, Nakshtras etc. was provided and queries related to the ill effects of heavenly bodies were answered by Prof. Khaire, Prof. Hamjade& Prof. Dr. Watode. Some students were found motivated towards assembling bigger telescope.
  • Group discussions of the students on - role of teachers in nurturing the youth of nation, farmers suicides – reasons & remedies, innovative methods of cultivation, personality development through spiritual thoughts and assembling the project were organized. Quiz competition on the Basic Knowledge of Physics was organized for the students of B. Sc. I.
  • Prof Khaire& Prof Hamjade participated in the national competition for innovative experiments in physics organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers in its 30th annual convention held at Hyderabad. They demonstrated low cost altitude – azimuth meter & some astronomical measurements and low cost solid state earthquake alarm. They were awarded with third prize for the exhibit low cost solid state earthquake alarm and best experiment award to the other exhibit.
  • Prof Khaire& Prof Hamjade along with some students of B. Sc. III participated 103rd Indian science congress association, hosted by university of Mysore. They were benefited by the talks of noble laureates, eminent personalities, scientists, cultural programs etc.Theyalso visited the exhibits in the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum at Bengaluru.
  • National Science Day, in the memory of great physicist & Nobel laureate, Sir C V Raman, was celebrated in the college on 29th Feb., 2016. On the occasion invited talk of Prof Dr R. S Mane, School of Physical Sciences, SRTM university, Nanded, on Opportunities for Physics Students was organized.
    Also essay competition was organized on the topics - Importance of science in everyday life, Science and superstitions and Recent advances in science. Ranked essays were of JyotsnaaRathod, PritiChintawar, AnkitaBhoyar, AayeshaTabassum and SumitRathod. These students were felicitated at the gracious hands of chief guest. Students and staff members expressed their views on the occasion. Dr S G Motke, h’ble principal of college, chaired the function.
  • Prof. DrB. D. Watode presented a paper entitled, “Dielectric Relaxation Study of Aqueous Ethylene Glycol Oligomers Using Time Domain Reflectometry” in the International Conference on Functional Materials And Microwaves, organized by the department of Physics, DrBabasahebAmbedkarMarathwada University, Aurangabad.
  • Prof khaire presented a paper, farmers suicide – reasons and remedies and Dr. Watode presented on – role of women in panchayat raj systemin a UGC sponsored state level seminar organized by the college.
  • Prof Khairejudged exhibits in the 41st District Level Science Exhibition organized by ZillaParishad, Yavatmal in Association with NCERT New Delhi, Govt of India, in the BabasahebNaik College of Engineering, Pusad. He also delivered religious and spiritual discourses aiming to motivate the farmers, labors for learning the art of living so as to divert their minds from suicidal thoughts.

Activities During 2016 – 17

  • To mark the teachers’ day, in memory of great Indian Philosopher, the first Vice President and the secondPresident of India,Dr. SarvapalliRadhakrushnan, self-governanceprogram was organized on 7 Sept. 2016. The students whose performance was best were - Vaishnavi S Pote, Vinod P Dhone, SalehaJabinAbMannan, Sneha V Tawade, Gajanan B Waghmare.

    On the occasion he addressed the students on - easy methods to synthesize nano-composits and their applications. Also Physics Association of students with PappuJadhaoas a president was inaugurated at the gracious hands of the chief guest.
  • To mark the birth anniversary of former president of India, the missile man,APJ Abdul Kalam, was celebrated by organizing quiz competition on science on 15 Oct 16.The students – DikshitaMankar, Mahesh Rathod, (M. Sc. I) and KunalPawar (B. Sc. III) delivered talks on autobiography of the scientist.
  • Science exhibition of working models was organized in the department on 10 Jan 17. Thirty two students participated by displaying 13 models exhibits. It was inaugurated at the gracious hands of Prof Badhe PD & Prof Fuke GR, former heads, of the department. Best of the projects was determination of Viscosity by Poiseulle’s method constructed from waste I/V sets ofMsPritamRathod and SagarRathod of B. Sc. II. Poster competition on Recent Trends in Sciences was organized on 07 Jan 17. Seventy students of B. Sc. III participated. Best of the posters were of KapilWaghmare and Pooja Kale. In the quiz competition organized on 11 Jan 17, students of B. Sc. II participated. Group of students ranked I wereSnehaKhandare, NishaMogare, AfsanaTajuddinSayyed, ShilpaBurkule and ranked II were NamrataShinde, RohiniBabhulkar, SwapnaChavhan, KaveriGodse.Prize winners were felicitated at the gracious hands of the chief guest, Dr. Mirza RafiqueAhamadBeig, famous warhadi poet, in VividhGundarshanSohala.
  • KunalPawar, SubodhkumarKambleofB. Sc. III participated science exhibition organized by Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati by demonstrating working model of the experiment – determination of rate of flow of liquid by Venturimeter on 27 Feb 17.
  • Workshop on curriculum development was organized for PG students on 17Jan.,2017. Students suggested changes to be made in the syllabus. Their opinion is to have a syllabus,containing topics which are frequently asked in competitive examinations such as NET, SET and with numerical problems.
  • Educational tour to Thermal Power Station, Paras, Dt: Akola was organized on 7 Feb 17. Eighty eight students of B. Sc. II and six of the staff members were actually astonished by observing huge structure of the plant components. Students also enjoyed the art of sculptures, well organized playing gadgets, flowering trees & shrubs, musical fountain, at Anadsagar, Shegaon.
  • Workshop on non-conventional energy systems was organized for UG and PG students on 14 Feb 17. Prof Dongaonkar VV, Dept. of Mechanical Engg, BabasahebNaik College of Engg, Pusad, delivered invited talk on Non-Conventional Energy Systems for Rural Developments.ProfWatode BD and Prof Hamjade PT demonstrated the gadgets, viz - Parabolic solar cooker, box type solar cooker, bike tube as a cooker, solar energy kit, solar water heater, solar photovoltaic panel, sunshine recorder etc. to the students.
  • A guest lecture of Prof. Dr. GajananMuley, Dept. of Physics,SGB Amravati University, Amravati was organized on Writing A Project Report for the M. Sc. students on30 Dec 16.Invited talk of Prof Khan M A, Dept. of Electronics & Telecommunication, BabasahebNaik College of Engg, Pusad, on Microprocessor Architecture was organized for the students of M. Sc. and B. Sc. III, on 4th March 17.Invited talk of Prof Khaire NN, Dept. of Electronics & Telecommunication, BabasahebNaik College of Engg, Pusad, on Microprocessor Practicals was organized for the PG students on 4th March 17.
  • National Science Day, in the memory of great physicist & Nobel laureate, Sir C. V. Raman, was celebrated in the college on 28th Feb., 2017 with the organization of students’ seminar on Recent Trends in Physical Sciences with sub theme – Physics, Mathematics, Electronics and Computer Science.Seminars of AishvaryaMulavkar and Priyanka Bompalwar were the best. H’ble principal addressed the students on Career Opportunities. Prof Khaire ND delivered a talk on Astronomy - For All.
    Sky watch program was organized in the evening. The students, staff members and parents took keen interest in observing the moon, highly illuminated phase of Venus, Pleiades, through the locally assembled 125 mm telescope. Also information regarding stars, planets, pole star, constellations, star clusters, earth’s rotation, black holes, gravity waves, Orion nebula M-42, double stars, Nakshtras etc. was provided. Queries related to the ill effects of heavenly bodies were answered.
  • An intercollegiate workshop on Non-Conventional Energy Systems was organized by the Late Ramkamalji Bharti Arts, Commerce and Smt. Sushilabai R Bharti Science College, Arni in collaboration with our collegeon 09 March 2017. Dr. Motke delivered a key-note address on Various Non-Conventional Energy Systems. Prof Khaire delivered invited talk on Solar CookersFor Rural Developments and Prof Hamjade on Solar Photo-Voltaic Systems. Prof Dr.Watode and all demonstrated and practiced the working solar gadgets.
  • University Level Post Graduate Students’ Seminar Competition on Solid State Physics was organized in collaboration with Govt. Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities, Amravation 11 March 2017. It was inaugurated at the gracious hands of DrYawale SP, Professor and Head of the department of Physics and Electronics, GVISH, Amravati and Dr. Katore SD, Professor and Head of the department of Mathematics, SantGadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. Students from various post graduate colleges in the university realm participated the activity. 1st prize of the competition was bagged by Shailesh Tiwari of GVISH, Amravati,2ndwas won by PoojaKshirsagarofGVISH, Amravati, and 3rd was won by MayureshDhoteofShri Shivaji Arts, Commerce and Science College, Akola. Prof Rahate AS, Head of the department of Physics, BabasahebNaik College of Engg, Pusadshouldered the responsibility of judging the seminars. Winners were awarded at the gracious hands of DrPravinRaghuvanshi, Principal, BrijalalBiyaniMv, Amravati and President of NUTA; DrThakare SS, Principal, Science College,Chandur(railway); DrRaut VB, Principal, Mahatma MungasajiMv., Darvah; DrYawale;andDrKatore. The guests and the judge also addressed the participants.
  • Prof Khaire participated the 11th Maharashtra State Level Inter University Research Convention, Avishkar 2016 held at Swami RamanandTeerthMarathwada University, Nanded (MS) on 27-29 Jan 17. He represented SantGadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati by demonstrating working model of Low Cost Solid State Earthquake Warning System.
  • Prof Khaire ND delivered invited talk on Astronomy – A Practical Approach at VinayakVidyaMandir, Amravati on 20 Sept 2016. He delivered religious and spiritual discourses aiming to motivate the farmers, labors for learning the art of living so as to divert their minds from suicidal thoughts and to become wise human beings at various public places.
  • Prof. Hamjade PT delivered a guest lecture on Geophysics and Earthquake Sciences, for B. Sc. II students of Smt. M. S. P. Arts, Science and K. P. T. Commerce College, Manora, Dt- Washim, on 12 Oct. 2016.He delivered invited talk for B. Sc. students on Non-Conventional Energy Systems at MatoshriNanibaiGharphalkar Science College, Babhulgaon, Dt- Yavatmal on 31 Aug 16.
  • Prof. Dr. Watode BD presented research paper entitled Dielectric Properties of Aqueous Tri-Ethylene Glycol Using Time Domain Reflectometry, at the Science College, Rajgurunagar, Pune on 8, 9 Dec 16.
  • Prof Khaire, Hamjade and Watode participated actively in a workshop for orientation of physics teachers on revision and restructuring of UG Physics syllabi, organized by VidyaBharatiMahavidyalaya, Amravati in Collaboration with Amravati University Physics Teachers’ Association on 22ndJan 17.
